JOB PURPOSE:

Support location efforts of existing underground cables (locates) for the construction department and field operations.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Support efforts to identify and clearly mark existing underground cable as directed.

Possess knowledge of procedures and equipment required to locate existing underground cable.

Identify and mark locations for new underground utilities, while preventing damage to existing infrastructure.

Possess proficiency in the operation of locate and bury drop equipment as required within areas of responsibility.

Read, comprehend, and utilize cable system maps and plans.

Be familiar with local One-Call laws and procedures and practice them accordingly.

Demonstrate knowledge of Midcos safety program, enforce safety rules and procedures, wear appropriate safety apparel (including hard hats, safety vests, OSHA approved boots), and operate all equipment safely.

Maintain a current, valid drivers license, operate and drive a Company vehicle in accordance with all Midco policies, and maintain a safe driving record (no DUI in the last five years).

Follow and serve as a role model in displaying Midcos Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers

Adhere to Midcos privacy guidelines to ensure each customers privacy.

Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

HS diploma, GED or a minimum of two years of equivalent work experience locating underground cable or similar utilities preferred.

Some college or vocational training preferred.

Previous locate or bury drop experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Be ready, willing, and able to travel.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 38 lbs.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Ability to notice and address small details to ensure accuracy and quality in tasks.

Capable of adjusting to new situations, environments, and challenges.

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.

Understanding and complying with relevant laws, regulations, and procedures.

May be required to work within limited and confined spaces as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The Employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year-round in all weather conditions. The Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.

Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
